Webinar on Olive Oil Export Opportunities to the Jordanian Market
22-01-2026

The Hashemite Kingdom is moving towards importing additional volumes of Tunisian olive oil

As part of the promotional program for the olive oil sector 2026, the Export Promotion Center (CEPEX) organized, on Thursday, January 22, 2026, through its Trade Office in Amman – Jordan, and in coordination with the Embassy of the Tunisian Republic in Jordan, a webinar on “Olive Oil Export Opportunities to the Jordanian Market”, bringing together nearly 50 representatives of Tunisian olive oil producers and exporting companies.

In his opening speech, Mr. Mourad Ben Hassine, Chairman and CEO of CEPEX, emphasized the importance of fully leveraging the export opportunities offered by the Jordanian market, particularly in light of the exceptional import measures adopted by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for olive oil to meet local demand. He also praised the efforts of the Tunisian Embassy in Amman, in close collaboration with CEPEX’s Trade Office in Jordan, to support and strengthen the presence of Tunisian olive oil in this high-potential market.

In her address, Her Excellency Ms. Moufida Zribi, Ambassador of the Tunisian Republic in Amman, highlighted the role of this institutional cooperation in boosting Tunisian exports to Jordan and consolidating bilateral economic relations, particularly amid the growing exchange of visits by economic operators in recent years.

The Director of the CEPEX Trade Office in Amman, Mr. Hichem Neji, delivered a presentation outlining the key indicators of Jordan’s increased demand for Tunisian olive oil, notably through the issuance of import licenses adapted to the Jordanian market needs. This trend is driven by exceptional climatic conditions, which have reduced local production, while olive oil remains a staple of Jordanian dietary habits. He further noted that more than 40 Jordanian importers, in coordination with CEPEX, have conducted field visits to Tunisian olive oil production sites since November 2025, leading to the signing of export contracts for approximately 3,000 tons of Tunisian olive oil to Jordan, with strong prospects for export acceleration in early 2026.

The interventions of the participating exporting companies focused on technical requirements, the legal and regulatory framework, and the procedures established by Jordanian authorities for olive oil imports, including cooperation mechanisms with accredited Jordanian institutions and the use of the dedicated digital import platform.

Moreover, Tunisian olive oil is gaining increasing visibility and popularity in the Jordanian market, supported by targeted promotional campaigns on social media and local media outlets.

At the conclusion of the webinar, Mr. Mourad Ben Hassine reaffirmed the necessity to intensify the promotion of Tunisian olive oil, ensure a sustainable presence in the Jordanian market, and strengthen strategic partnerships with economic stakeholders, notably through participation in specialized international trade fairs and the attraction of Jordanian business leaders and institutions.
